Remembering the Sacrifices of Our Redeemer
Remembering the
Sacrifices of Our Redeemer
Lenten season is a religious observant for Christians, it is
a penitential preparation before the Easter. It is the time where people recall
Jesus Christ’s passion, suffering, death, and resurrection for the sake of our
redemption from our sins. There are some important things to do during the said
season.
It starts at Ash Wednesday, the priest puts cross shaped ash in catholic people’s forehead. It symbolizes the sign of inner repentance. We observe fasting and abstinence, it is a form of sacrifice that we offer to our redeemer Jesus Christ, as we remember his sufferings and hardships he did for us humankind just to redeem us from our sins. Some people do penitence, especially in Good Friday. To commemorate how the Jews punished our savior. Visita Iglesia is also a part of our tradition during Lenten season, this is the practice of visiting 7 churches and recite the station of the cross. It is commonly done on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday.
But because
of this pandemic, we were not able to do all of these because of the
restrictions and protocols. So, do it silently.
